The 2012 Olympics will be held between July 27th & August 12th
The Olympic Stadium, situated in the Olympic Zone in Stratford East London will host the opening and closing ceremonies It will also host the track & field events and be the finishing point for the Olympic Marathon. Other events. Close to the stadium and within the zone other Olympic buildings are located including the Aquatics Centre, the Basketball Arena, the Handball Arena, the Water Polo Arena and the Velodrome. Situated between these buildings is the Olympic park where video screens will televise pictures of the events in the stadium and arena, Admission to the Olympic Park is by ticket only and the tickets do not allow ticket holders into any other Olympic venue.
Other Olympic sports events will be held across London and in many other other parts of the UK. This includes the preliminaries games football competition prior to the final at Wembley Stadium.
