Known to many just as ‘No 1, London’ owing to its past position as the first house encountered on passing the tollgates at Knightsbridge, the home of the first Duke of Wellington contains Wellington’s boots and a large nude statue of Napoleon by Canova, 11 feet high and modelled on the god Mars. A striking part of an interesting and varied art collection.
