Chinawhite

4 Winsley Street London W1W 8HF
Tel No: 0207-290-0580

Review: The Chinawhites Nightclub and Restaurant in London’s West end. The club has a reputation for attracting celebrities such as footballers and models and is at the centre of London’s ‘Wag’ culture. Just a few minutes walk from Oxford Circus tube station it’s easily accessible and was voted the best new club of 2010 in a recent survey.

Due to it’s exclusivity, the club is notoriously expensive with the majority of drinks costing from £10 to £15. Chinawhites plays mostly commercial pop tunes , but also has a mix of old school soul and RNB music played by the resident DJ’S. The venue has three different rooms spread out on one large floor. Many customers have complained about the rude behaviour of the door staff which is not untypical of an upmarket club like this where there’s no guarantee of getting in if you’re not on the guest list.

As well as genuine celebrities there is an abundance of fake posers and so certain individuals may feel that this is not their scene. The decor is pretty and predominately Asian which makes it unique and gives the venue a great ambience. The food is typically expensive with most main dishes costing around £15 but it is highly recommended and rare as the menu is a western twist on classic Asian dishes. Entry prices are high at about £20 and clubbing hours are between 7 pm and 3 am.

Oxford Circus is the nearest tube station to Chinawhites and is served by the Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines.

Crazy Larrys

533 Kings Road Chelsea London SW10 OTZ
Tel No: 0207-376-5555

Review: The Crazy Larry’s Club is a nightclub situated on the swanky Kings Road in Southwest London. Larry’s is somewhat of an institution as it has been a popular Chelsea hotspot for over 25 years. The clubs tends to entice a fairly young and sometimes posh crowd of people. Larry’s is a pretty small yet cosy and warm venue with just one floor and reports on the club are generally glowing.

Larry’s is synonymous with mainstream chart pop and cheesy disco tunes, the music gives the feel of a wedding reception party. Some customers have found certain clientele to be a little egotistical and pretentious in their Armani suits and ties, but the vibe you get from the majority of clubbers in Larry’s is a down to earth and friendly one.

Drinks are not cheap but in this area of London that is to be expected, the cheapest bottle of beer available is about £4 and a standard bottle of wine is affordable at around £15. They specialise in an extensive and colourful range of cocktails.

No serious complaints about the door and bar staff which is a rarity so you should expect a friendly welcome on your visit. The club opens at 10 pm and closes at 3 am and if you can get there before 11 pm it should be only £5 however after 11 it’s £10 to get in which is a fair entry price.

The closest tube station to Crazy Larry’s is Fulham Broadway which is served by the District Line [Wimbledon branch]

Fabric

77 A Charterhouse Street, Farringdon London EC1M 6HJ
Tel No: 0207 336 8898

Review: The Fabric Club is a nightclub in the city of London, it’s located opposite London’s famous Smithfield Meat Market. The club was voted 2nd best in DJ Magazine’s top 100 poll. Fabric is renowned for having a group of top London DJ’s perform sets there, they play a mix of dance, drum and bass and hip hop music.

The club has three well designed rooms and its light shows and high tech sound system make for a really atmospheric experience. Fabric generally receives warm reviews from clubbers and is ideal for hardcore ravers who are looking for more than just a night out, but also a unique and hedonistic experience lasting until the early hours of the morning.

The club is notoriously expensive though, Drink Prices are rather high with a bottle of beer costing around £3.50 and a Spirit with mixer being significantly higher. Opening hours are between 10 pm and 5 am and the typical cost of admission is steep at around 15 to £20.

Farringdon and Barbican tube stations are just a few minutes walk away from Fabric and are served by the Circle, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines.

Ministry Of Sound

103 Gaunt Street SE1 6DP
Tel No:0870-060-0010

Review: The Ministry of Sound Club is a dance nightclub located in the Elephant and Castle area of South-east London. It is one of two branches, the other being in Egypt. Since opening its doors the club has gained a cult following amongst hardcore ravers and even has its own record label. The venue is ideal for those looking for the Ibiza clubbing experience as it supplies an atmospheric and hedonistic feel for lovers of dance, house and Techno music.

The ministry has a fantastic sound system which is loud without being deafening and their light shows are amongst the best in London’s clubs. The bar staff are friendly on the whole and you are likely to receive quick and efficient service from them. The club has been recently renovated and so looks very modern and stylish inside. Once you get inside you will be surprised at how big the club actually is, it has four rooms which is important as it can get very heavily populated.

They run plenty of student nights with reduced drink and admission prices and so if you are studying this would probably be the best time to go. On a normal night a beer is fairly pricey at around £5.00 and the stronger stuff like spirits are also highly priced without being extortionate. The opening hours are much later than a usual London nightclub with the place shutting at 05.00 am on Friday nights and 07.00 am on Saturday nights. Admission into the club typically costs about £15.

Elephant and Castle tube station is just around the corner and is served by the Bakerloo and Northern Lines.
